Activities

SciPlay activities reflect the inherent connections between child’s play and authentic scientific practice.  Specifically, these activities are designed for adult readers to:

  • Offer concrete, explicit examples of play and science connections
  • Elucidate the habits of mind of real-world science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) as developed through play
  • Provide children with kinesthetic experiences to help build conceptual understandings in science over time
  • Engage students in fun, physical activity outdoors on playgrounds
  • Guide adults to Web resources and explanations to support student sense-making
  • Stimulate further creative ideas and variations

Try them out with your own family, neighborhood community or classroom. Post additional suggestions on our site so that everyone can play!
